Our vision is that whosoever reconciles with God by grace will find a new life in Christ
We are a group of young adult Seventh-day Adventist Christians who are seeking to follow God and have a passion to impact the community around us. We believe that encountering Christ changes lives and creates meaning and purpose for our existence. We don’t just want to do church, we want to be the Church.
If you are a college student, a young adult professional, or a young adult just trying to figure things out in the DMV area we invite you to join us each Sabbath.
We are part of the Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church community in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Our Story
In September 2015, Sligo’s Young Adult Department launched a new ministry called GLOW, an acronym for God Lighting Our World. This ministry seeks to reach the GenZ and Millennial generations by following God and cultivating a deep passion and commitment towards impacting the community around them.
GLOW started with a weekly interactive Sabbath School program called GLOW Study that meets in Memorial Chapel. Through the blessing of God, the GLOW ministry grew and a subsequent ministry called GLOW Worship was established in September, 2016. GLOW Worship is a monthly young adult worship service held in the Sligo Youth Room followed by homeless ministry outreach in downtown Washington DC. GLOW has also grown to include GLOW Groups, a ministry dedicated to creating community around the Word of God through young adults doing life together.
Our Beliefs & Values
Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the Protestant conviction Sola Scriptura—the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians.
God is love, power, and splendor—and God is a mystery. His ways are far beyond us, but He still reaches out to us. God is infinite yet intimate, three yet one, all-knowing yet all-forgiving.
From neurons to nebulae, DNA to distant galaxies, we are surrounded by wonder.
Love. Harmony. Perfection. Once, all creation sang the same glorious song.
Jesus left His followers with an epic mission: tell the world of His love and His promise to return. Also, they should love people the way He loved them.
God’s law in the Ten Commandments show us how to live and make clear our need for Jesus. The commandment’s principles outline a holistic relationship with God, self and others.

Our Pastor: Jonathan Gantt
Youth & Young Adult Pastor | SLIGO CHURCH
As Youth and Young Adult Pastor, Jonathan brings to Sligo several years of experience in working with young people. He served for seven years as a Bible teacher, the first three at Pine Tree Academy in Freeport, Maine, and subsequently at Takoma Academy. While in Maine he also served as Chaplain and at Takoma Academy as assistant Chaplain. Jonathan served as Sligo’s Young Adult Sabbath School Study Leader.
Pastor Gantt enjoys preaching and teaching the gospel to all age groups, and is passionate about bringing people into the church and helping them become a part of the kingdom of God, which he sees as the only cure for a broken and hurting world.
